Dabbla’s in the desert for the latest drop from his forthcoming record Death Moves and it’s a big one.
So large is new track ‘FUTD’ that it probably left a crater when it landed – maybe that’s why the UK hip-hop big boy’s new alien friend crashed his spaceship. Either that or his intergalactic soundsystem got scrambled by the 808s and sinister overtones of ‘Fuck Up The Dance’ which sees the South London MC come with a slightly different flow, albeit with all the signature vocal elements which have kept him at the forefront of UK hip-hop for years still intact.
The track – full name ‘Fuck Up The Dance’ – follows ‘Devil You Know’, ‘Spine’,
‘Flying’ and ‘Hemisphere’ off the Death Moves production line and sees long-term associate Sumgii hop onto production duties once again.
The new record, released on October 1 on Potent Funk, comes after Dabbla’s 2016 solo debut Year of the Monkey, which saw him stepping out from the Dead Players, London Zoo and Problem Child crews to take centre stage for the first time. That record also spawned his breakout track ‘Psychoville’, itself accompanied by a sensational video which has built up well over 4 million views on YouTube.
Dabbla has come a long way since cutting his teeth in the drum & bass scene in the late 90s, and judging by his consistently excellent output in the years since the only way is up.
Death Moves is out on Potent Funk on October 1.
