After a number of set backs and even temporary cancellation, the development of 50 Cent sixth studio album Street King Immortal now seems well under way with the release of a second single and video.

In contrast to the album’s first release, club banger Get Low, 9 Shots sees a far more serious and reflective Fifty inspired by his infamous shooting 15 years ago. Rather than dealing literally with the shooting as previously seen in Many Men each shot serves as a metaphor for various impactful moments from his life packed into the tracks 2 mins 13 secs narrative. As well as lyrically reflecting on the past the song overall has the feel of an older, classic Fifty track returning to the slower more melodic style of earlier albums such as Get Rich or Die Tryin’.

Along with the single Fifty has also released a 6:43 video featuring fellow G-Unit members Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks. Like the theme of the single the video avoids glitzy scenes of club rooms and fast cars to give a gritty narrative straight from the streets of New York. Directed by Eif Rivera, who has previously worked with Fifty on Major Distribution and We Up amongst others, the video also takes a more cinematic style extending almost into a short film with the music interspersed throughout.
