Makola – Black Man Statues

A track to make you sit up and listen Black Man Statues is the latest politically charged release from London duo Makola.

Coinciding with Historic England granting listed status to three statues of black British people. The track plays off the diverse links behind London and its culture. “White kids move with a black man attitude”- whilst also celebrating both the positives and negatives of the city. Alternately referring to it as “a concrete palace” and “a poison chalice”. The cross cultural links are also at the heart of the maximalist production which combines grime bass lines with afro chants.

Keep an eye out for their third single expected to drop in January.
