Review: XP – Delivery EP

As someone who has been involved in the grime scene for quite a while XP started stepping his game up last year. With his improvement has also come plaudits from his peers. A supporting tour and collabs with with President T, featured on the new mixtape from Big H as well as radio sets with Spyro on Rinse and Spooky and Mode FM.

With a new year comes a new EP. Delivery has five tracks on it beginning with ‘The Road’ a deep track which at first sounds like something it’s not, however his lyrics are absolutely on point on this and the beat is amazing on this track.

Mental‘ ft President T is a straight banger. Wavy chorus and hard bars there is really nothing more you can want in a track.

’28 G’s’ is the track I was expecting a pure grime track from, that makes you bop your head as your listen. Great chorus, flow, punchlines and beat make this one a rounded big tune. ‘Can’t Hear Nothing’ is another solid track and showcases him perfectly while ‘Tumbledryer’ is probably the best track on the mixtape where XP definitely shows he is close to tapping into what makes an MC into an artist, that chorus is so catchy!

XP has said that this is the strongest body of work he has ever made and he is not wrong. To hear the difference of this to him just a few years ago is like listening to two different artists. On this mixtape he is showing not only can he rap but he can create a song which is a skill many MCs could work towards. If he can keep the momentum that he currently has this can be an even bigger year for him.
