Mixtape Review: Sneakbo – Certified
With a successful clothing line, touring with the likes of Drake and Rick Ross, as well as amassing over 20 milllion youtube views and 50,0000 downloads of his last release, Sneakbo is riding his wave all the way to the top, and his newest release ‘Certified’ will be another part of his already illustrious music CV.
Sneakbo’s new hotly anticipated new release ‘Certified’ aims to begin a new wave for the young south Londoner which he will ride all the way to 2015. While the dancehall/afropop comparisons in his sound is evident, many of his tracks give a rare glimpse of the artist, as he reflects on his success thus far.
‘Them Days’ with MusikMaestro has a Spanish Guitar/Flamenco feel for Bo-Bo to reflect on his previous life before music. ‘Right Here’ finds him holding pace with double MOBO winners Krept & Konan, as well as ‘Real G’ which has him holding his own with Fekky and Snap Capone. It is his diversity in music that keeps Sneakbo authentic in a music scene where people jump on the ‘flavour of the month’ instrumental in order to show their skills on someone else’s hype.
Even with his previous singles ‘Her name’, ‘Zim Zimma’, ‘Ringa Ling’, ‘The Wave’ and many others, Sneakbo shows his range by working with a variety of artists, from L Marshall, Young Mad B, Gappy Ranks, Angel, DVS, G Frsh and more, and it works in his favour for the Angel Town representative.
For those who have never listened to Sneakbo at all, this project is a perfect introduction to an artist who has a brighter future, as his perceptions for music are all over the board. As many others pigeonhole themselves into a single genre or image, Sneakbo goes into different musical categories, but still keeps his image evident. With his legion of fans and tastemakers following his every move, the wave will never keep running, as long as he stays on his musical moves and keeps the hits coming.
