Review: Skittles – Bumba EP

Mancunian lyricist Skittles has announced the release his long awaited Bumba EP, a four track MCing masterclass featuring fellow Manchester talents DRS, Fox and Rolla, set for 2nd February.

Having been involved in various projects (such as the blistering arrival of the Levelz crew) since his last solo release ‘Poor with £100 Trainers’ in 2012, the new EP reasserts him as a musical powerhouse in his own right.

Since the acoustic SBTV performance of the EP’s namesake, Bumba, all eyes will be on this Chimpo produced grime banger; but the EP certainly isn’t a one-track pony. Featuring him on production as well as MCing duty, the EP explores his musical influences as well as providing a solid base for his turbo-charged social commentary and emotional self-reflections.

A very strong release that is sure to stand tall amongst Skittles’ other musical accomplishments, it looks like 2015 will be the year that the name Skittles becomes commonplace amongst hip hop, grime and D&B circles alike.
