Review: PRhyme (Royce Da 5’9 + DJ Premier)

Detroit hip hop veteran Royce Da 5’9″ and iconic Texas born NY repping producer DJ Premier have teamed up under the name PRhyme, dropping this brand new record.

The album contains 9 tracks, which by today’s standard isn’t much, but the result is a no filler solid album. In the usual Premo style, the beats are grand and soulful consisting of dusty sampling and scratched vocals. Royce meanwhile delivers some killer flows and some of his best rhymes to date, affirming himself as a true legend.

Both artists are no strangers to being part of a duo, Royce recently linked up with Eminem on ‘Bad Meets Evil’ and DJ Premier as one half of Gang Starr. Consequently, both artists know the importance of developing a rapport when working as a pair.

The album features several big names delivering guest verses including Mac Miller, Schoolboy Q, Killer Mike, Ab-Soul and Jay Electronica.
