Review: K*Ners-Voice of the City

Bristol has long been regarded a jewel in the UK music scene’s crown. Breeding some of the biggest and best musical innovators spanning across a variety of genres, which is why it’s no surprise it’s birthed so many varied and notable UK hip hop artists like K*Ners.

The veteran rapper has managed to maintain a reputable position in the UK hip hop scene that has eluded many other UK hip hop artists, having shared the stage with the likes of Sugar Hill Gang, Mos Def, GZA/Genius (Wu-Tang), Tinchy Stryder and Mark Ronson and the Gorillaz.

His latest Reel Me Records release Voice of the City demonstrates slick production teamed with strong lyrical content. Featuring the likes of Sway and offering notably fresh sounding tracks that are sure to pack mass appeal without sacrificing integrity like ‘Opposites Attract’, which features a recent Bristol music success story, bass music producers Dr Meaker and playful 90’s sounding vocals from Katey Brookes, to tracks like the heavily reggae influenced Lions Den featuring the mighty Roots Manuva.
