Review: Foreign Beggars at The Amersham Arms

Currently touring across Europe, Foreign Beggars have always had reputation for getting the show turned up, but the opening acts definitely kicked the show off with a bang. It was sonsored by Jack Daniels’ ‘Jack Rocks’ campaign, an ongoing initiative championing the best in authentic live music, as well as the UK’s most iconic independent venues.

Opening acts included No Names x Delta Lima, Camouflage Children, Phili N Dotz and Ocean Wisdom. No Names x Delta Lima warmed the crowd up and had everyone chanting “Dirty and you know it”, bringing a lively and bouncy vibe. Both the Camouflage Children and Phili N Dotz came with a more aggressive flow, freestyling and interacting with crowd members. But it wasn’t until DJ No Names made his way onto the stage, when the crowd really got things going.

Previously playing at events like the iTunes Festival and Boom Bap Festival, Foreign Beggars commented on the venue saying, we are “looking forward to playing in South London at the Amersham Arms. Been a minute since we’ve played in a small underground venue in London with up front and progressive rap acts.  Gonna take it back with the steez, but also looking forward to testing out an exclusive selection of dank electronic slammers!”

The show kicked off with DJ Nonames scratching on deck and Orifice Vulgatron kicking a freestyle to excite, the already rowdy crowd. The performance gradually switched between being hip hop dominated to dubstep, these songs got the crowd most hyped.

Going through hit songs like ‘Frosted Perspeks’, ‘Contact’ and ‘Crep Hype’, Foreign Beggars played some of their old and new songs. Songs like ‘Apex’ took the night to another level, exciting fans so much, to a bit of moshing. Other songs on the night include ‘Farrda’, ‘Get A Bit More’ and ‘Modus’. The night ended on a high, with fans wanting more.
