Review: Dorris – Whoo EP

Manchester grime artist Dorris has flown up the ladder to Grime success in the last six months. The self-proclaimed ‘Redneck’ came to the attention of the grime scene last September when he featured in a clash against Invasion Alert’s Hazman on the infamous ‘Lord Of The Mics 6’ DVD which was headlined by P Money Vs Big H. Although one of the more minor clashes from the event Dorris proved his worth and has gone on to cause quite a stir within the genre.

Since LOTM 6 Dorris has released his last mixtape entitled ‘Redneck Behaviour’ as well as clashing Cardiff’s Local for a special event Live on Rinse FM from the Billionaire Boys Club shop in Soho to mark the tenth anniversary of LOTM.

He has recently announced his next studio release will be in the form of an E.P entitled ‘Whoo’. Those who follow Dorris will know the track ‘Whoo’ featured on his last mixtape and was one of the stand out grime anthems in its own right, so much so that he has decided to put together a remix package.

We have been given a sneak preview of the E.P and can confirm that it is FIRE. The five track offering features the original track, as well as the ‘8-Bar Remix’ produced by Levlz featuring some of the hottest names in the game right now including Row D, Hypes, Vader, Grim Sickers, Big Shizz and newcomer Butchaman.

‘Whoo E.P’ also features remixes from some established players in the electronic UK music scene such as ‘Chimpo’, Moony & Marcus Nasty’s latest protege Pavv. It is out for free download via The Grime Report on 1st February, with a video following for the ‘8-Bar Remix’ on 8th.

We can’t wait for the release and see it as a somewhat announcement of his place in the Grime scene. If you didn’t know WHOO Dorris was you will shortly.

Check his bars below feauturing Row D, Ten Dixon, Hypes and Vader!
