Review: A$AP Ferg, A$AP Nast, DJ Martelo @ 100 Club – 18th March [ + photos and video]
Converse hosted A$AP Ferg and A$AP Nast straight out of Harlem, NYC – I was lucky enough to be down there on the night, which was at the historic 100 Club in Oxford Street, in the heart of central London, on Tuesday night. Photos of the night courtesy of Andrew Whitton.
DJ Martelo [@iammartelo] from leading underground online radio station NTS set the crowd in motion in the hours leading up to Ferg and Nast hitting the stage – his set was predominantly old school grime and a few recent trap remixes of newer tracks thrown in as well – a pleasant surprise for a US rapper’s show which definitely went down well with the gassed up crowd!
Ferg and Nast came on after a short intro from their DJ who started by letting the people know that slain Run DMC member DJ Jam Master Jay was his father! As soon as the two MCs hit the stage they definitely made an impact on the heated crowd and cooled them down later on in the 45 minute set as they sprayed a good few cups of water on the crowd!
As they went thru their tracks they dedicated a segment to A$AP Rocky, whose success has inevitably done a lot to push the rest of the A$AP crew! It was a risky decision to play their crew leader’s collab with Skrillex, as although it was a good tune, the crowd probably wanted more from Ferg himself, perhaps more freestyles and what not –
Check below for tons more pics and the our instagram video of the moment he dropped the hook to the infectious ‘Shabba’, as the closing song to his high powered stage show!
And to top it off the poster on the night was dope as hell as well! Big ups to whoever designed it!!
