Video: Migos – “What the Price”
‘Bad and Boujee’ might be the hottest Migos single, which has propelled them to even larger nationwide stardom but the trio has more to offer than just that particular anthem. The psychedelic guitar that opens “What the Price,” off the group’s new album, Culture might throw you for a loop at first. It certainly doesn’t sound like a Migos song, at least not until Quavo’s auto-tuned vocals enter the fray. Quavo, Takeoff and Offset then wax on the price of drugs in two regards: the monetary cost and the societal cost. “Tell me what the preacher preach about/Tell me what the teacher teach about/I’mma go find me a better route.” It doesn’t endorse or condemn a single particular lifestyle, but rather acknowledges that some people take the much harsher routes in their life because that is what they feel best suited for.
It might not be a Migos club hit a la ‘Bad and Boujee’ or their first hit ‘Versace’, but it does give you a lot to contemplate while listening. This has been a big week for Migos, as their Culture album received rave reviews and it was announced they will perform at the 2017 Rolling Loud Festival. They will share the stage with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Future, Post Malone, and Young Thug.
