Legowelt – Anaconda Flow EP / Evaporate With Me 2 Infinity

Dutch producer Legowelt is his own music scene. Danny Wolfers first fell for electronic music in the early 1990s, since when he has been churning out tracks at an alarming rate. Armed with an arsenal of no fewer than 20 aliases pushing everything from African music (Nacho Patrol) to Chicago house (Polarius), Wolfers is a true hardware disciple, obsessively dedicated to synths and sonic toys in the physical realm.

It is the genre-blending Legowelt which receives the most attention, having been the vessel for ten full-length albums and 36 other releases to its name put out on a host of labels including Clone, L.I.E.S., Crème Organization and Peoples Potential Unlimited. And there is another on its way – ‘Anaconda Flow’, his debut release on Technicolour Records, is set for an early April release.

ANACONDA FLOW

The forthcoming record from Legowelt promises more of the same envelope-pushing music which has made his name synonymous with outside the box soundscapes with gritty dance floor sensibilities.

EVAPORATE WITH ME 2 INFINITY

Techno-flavoured lead track ‘Evaporate With Me 2 Infinity’ is an exercise in wintry atmospherics, with icy arpeggios falling from insistent pads while an Arctic wind blows through the pounding drum track. The ominous sense of fragility which opens the track bows beneath the pressure of a chunky bassline before melting away under the weight of driving hats and melodic flourishes.

When a snare-dominated interlude interrupts the track’s steady build of momentum, the layers are stripped back to reveal a muscular foundation undulating powerfully beneath a barrage of stripped-back analogue squelch and swooping top-end experimentation which approaches a simple motif from multiple directions at once to create an organic counterpoint to the rumbling frequencies below.
