Review: K Koke – FFF Prison EP

In Hip Hop, Uncategorized by Chris White

In his emotional new 6 track EP ‘FFF Prison’, NW London’s K Koke doesn’t hold back when discussing his time spent in prison, which was widely publicised and lead to him being ridiculed by the press. With features from huge names such as Maverick Sabre and Dappy it comes as no surprise that there has been a lot of hype around this EP. In the track with Dappy ‘On Remand’, K Koke goes in rapping about how he was sentenced for a crime he did not commit and his frustration at the injustice of his case. ‘On Remand’ is a powerful track, so much so that it received a huge 5 wheel ups when it premiered on Charlie Sloth’s 1Xtra show.

K Koke’s heartfelt passion can be felt in ‘Letter Back’ where he discusses missing his children’s early years and how this has affected him. When you contrast this with the explosive bars and intensity of ‘Association’ and the mature outro ‘Living Isn’t Found Here’ you can see just how talented and varied K Koke is. The EP as a whole is a raw, emotional story that has been told through masterful lyricism and a desire to let the public know the truth. ‘FFF Prison’ has most certainly lived up to the excitement surrounding it, which is something we can be sure will only continue to grow after its release.
