In Hip Hop by Nick Russell

MOBO award winning hip-hop artist Akala announces a one-off headline show at XOYO on 3rd of June to celebrate the release of his forthcoming fourth studio album, ‘The Thieves Banquet’, out on 27th May via Illa State Records.

Written and co-produced by Akala and recorded with a full live band featuring Cassell ‘The Beatmaker’ (The Streets) on drums and Eric Appapoulay (Plan B) on bass, forthcoming album ‘The Thieves Banquet’ is inspired by the title of Ngugi wa Thiong’o’s Novel ‘The Devil On The Cross’. Effortlessly fusing rap, rock and electro-punk sounds with thought-provoking lyrical storytelling, ‘The Thieves Banquet’, is arguably Akala’s most inspired work to date.

The one-off show at XOYO on 3rd June will provide the first opportunity to see Akala and his band showcase all the tracks from the forthcoming album ‘The Thieves Banquet’ live for the first time.

Tickets for Akala’s special XOYO headline show are now available from http://bit.ly/thievesbanquet-launch and are priced at £12 ‘The Thieves’ Banquet’ will be released on 27th May 2013.
