Stream: Charles Hamilton- The Black Box EP

Following his big return to music with the chart hit New York Raining earlier this year Charles Hamilton has rounded off 2015 with release of EP The Black Box. His first official EP in a number of years even at only four tracks the EP marks a strong return to hip hop. Unlike the more radio friendly New York Raining The Black Box sees a more intense lyricism with an attack on New York gentrification in the opening bars of Face The Music as well as the playfully lyrical Crayola. It also proves to have an increasingly reflective and personal feel with the melancholy Down the Line which sees Charles opening up about his own troubles from addiction to bipolar disorder. Joining on the track UK singer Laurel accompanies for a haunting chorus and is one of two guests on the EP along with rising star Sam Bruno on Lessons.

The Black Box is available on Spotify and iTunes.
