With a new release to celebrate the end of lockdown, Birmingham artist Decarta is giving us lots to be happy about with new song ‘Having a Party Tonight’. Upbeat and lively, ‘Having a Party Tonight’ was written to be danced to. Decarta recorded this feel-good reggae tune in a recording studio in his hometown of Birmingham, surrounded by real instruments and just letting his creativity flow. This song was actually written a few years ago, but took on a new meaning with the lifting of lockdown and the easing of the past 18 months of restrictions. A song for any celebration, ‘Having a Party Tonight’ is a feel good dance tune that will have you dancing all night!
Decarta is a Birmingham based reggae artist, formerly operating as a band but now a solo project for founding member Paddy Dowling. Heavily influenced by UB40 and Bob Marley, Decarta quickly went from being formed to entering a talent contest, then on to performing gigs and running recording sessions with musicians such as Graeme Hamilton, who featured on Fine Young Cannibals’ well known song ‘Johnny Come Home’. After the band split and went their separate ways, guitarist Paddy Dowling continued to write under the name of Decarta, whilst developing his ability by attending a music course run by reggae star Pato Banton and playing with various musicians and bands, and he is currently working towards an album of all original music. Recently appearing on a live Q&A with UB40, Decarta is still a name to be reckoned with within the UK Reggae scene.
