Review: Carpetface drops brand new project ‘The Cabin Fever EP’

In Hip Hop by Harry Martin

Award-winning London raised rapper/producer/songwriter Carpetface has dropped his long-awaited ‘The Cabin Fever EP’. The first instalment of the ‘FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES’ series, which is set to raise the Cornwall based artist’s profile is a 7-track project, that deals with the turbulent year that 2020 has brought on everyone!

The EP dives deep into the personal struggles of a single father keeping optimistic, keeping their head above water in the daunting lockdown. With production from French producer DJAR ONE, the head-bopping jazz-infused mix runs perfectly alongside Carpetface’s wild and untamed lyrical flow. The EP screams across a broad set of mood swings, ultimately misdirecting us to a place of anguish and back again, pushing through with perseverance in the face of adversity.

Check out the video for ‘Def Defnition (No One Can Breathe)’ which covers a range of hard hitting subjects both visually and lyrically –

‘Done & Dusted (F*ck 2020)’ and ‘Secret Formula’, are stand out singles that bring a dark and brooding vibe to the EP. ‘Secret Formula’ is to have its own music video, set to be released on January 4th, the visuals will no doubt be a trip to experience if it’ll be anything like the mix! Look out for the follow up project, FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES Vol.2 : “LOCKDOWN / BLESSUP” dropping in Spring 2021, which sees Carpetface take more of a production role with a Hip Hop / Reggae crossover vibe.
