Busy Signal – It Ruff

In Reggae & Dancehall by Josh Hood

With his first outing for two years, Busy Signal has marked his return to the Jamaican dancehall scene with the release of It Ruff – a contemplative track documenting daily hardships in Jamaica, within a single that harnesses the classical dancehall riddim alongside electronic instrumentals. With his inimitable, reverberating voice, Busy Signal takes his position as a man of the people – someone with his ear to the ground. As such, It Ruff documents trials and tribulations, but equally acts as an excuse to temporarily forget those rough times. With his smooth riffs and melodic vocals, Signal creates an opportunity for people to recognise collective struggle, and celebrate personal endurance and strength, during 3 minutes of skank-worthy verses.
