Album Review: Cardi B – Invasion of Privacy

In Hip Hop by Jessica Salter

Love and hip hop: New York star turned rapper Cardi B dropped her long-anticipated debut album ‘Invasion of Privacy’ on the 6th April. The 13-track project is already certified Gold due to the popularity of her debut track ‘Bodak Yellow’ which is certified 5x multi-platinum by the RIAA.

Cardi who recently signed with Quality Control (who also manage Lil Yachty, Trippie Redd and Offset, her fiancé, of Migos), continued to please fans as she recently dropped her visual for ‘Bartier Cardi’ featuring 21 Savage.

The album has features from Migos, YG, SZA and Chance the Rapper; who was one of the surprise guests as he did not appear on the original track list posted on Cardi’s Instagram page. The infidelity themed track ‘Be Careful’ has built up traction as people assumed it was a shot at Offset, however this theory was put to bed in a recent Beats 1 interview.

Cardi shows off her rapping skills in tracks ‘Money bag’ and ‘She Bad’ featuring LA rapper YG, as well as a less aggressive side in ‘Ring’ featuring Kehlani. The project is expected to sell up to 200,000 units in the first week; with even Oprah Winfrey giving her seal of approval.
