Album: Chase & Status – RTRN: THE ORIGINALS

In Dancehall, Drum & Bass by James Wijesinghe

To properly return to jungle, Chase & Status went to Kingston’s Big Yard Studios to record original dancehall tunes to later spin into drum and bass anthems. In a week that saw the duo play seven live shows, release a new merch line and an anniversary remix of UK Apache’s ‘Original Nuttah‘, they also dropped this EP as a perfect pairing to their huge album RTRN II JUNGLE.

The project offers an ear into Chase & Status’ production process, as they mark fifteen years in the game. The six-track project spans the length of dancehall, with ‘Cool N Crisp (Ft. Natty Campbell)‘ having a classic roots flavour, and tracks like ‘Shut Up (Ft. Suku)‘ and ‘Delete (Ft. Burro Banton)‘ having a harder ragga sound.

Chase & Status are some of today’s most sought after DJs, and their releases continue to destroy our charts and dancefloors. As well as ‘The Originals’, instrumental riddims are also available, as well as limited packages of 4 x 7″ vinyl singles. Stream RTRN: The Originals everywhere, and get muad.
