Album: Axel Holy – Wonderworld

In dubstep, Grime, Hip Hop by James Wijesinghe

Axel Holy’s Wonderworld sounds like Disney Land in the centre of Stokes Croft. You’ll know him as the prolific producer Baileys Brown, or as one half of DEDW8, but the Bristolian rapper/producer extraordinaire Axel Holy comes through with a 14 track album to put his mic-skills on the map.

Wonderworld has dropped today along with dope animated visuals for the album’s third single, ‘Let It Go’. The tune is very far from the Frozen soundtrack, thanks to Jack Danz’ gully instrumental and Holey’s devilish flow. Shouts to Monsta for creating another sick video in his iconic illustration style.

Released through Split Prophets, Axel Holy keeps his friends close. Frequent collaborators Datkid, Flying Monk, Wish Master, 0079 and Lee Scott pepper the album, as well as further Bristol-based artists Marie Lister, Boofy and Pea Whitey.

For those fond of the murkier sides of hip hop, as seen in Baileys Brown’s 2019 project Still Fresh, welcome to Wonderworld. This one’s for you. Buy/stream now on all platforms and watch the video below.
