Review: Takeoff – Intruder [Prod. OG Parker]

Review: Takeoff – Intruder [Prod. OG Parker]

‘Bad and Boujee’ really brought Migos into the mainstream, everyone and their grandma knows to reply with ‘drop top’ if anyone says, ‘rain drop’ to them. One thing not every fan knows is that each member of the group also releases their own solo music and Takeoff as the youngest member of Migos has really been lacking in this respect.

Quavo has a whole host of solo songs and hits with other artists; as does Offset (who also killed the bad and boujee chorus) but Takeoff didn’t really marginalise on the solo market. However, he’s now released his first ever single called ‘Intruder’ and I’ve got to say he’s done me proud as my favourite member of the group.

He mixes the typical repetitive style that Migos have with some very lyrical content while still sounding street with constant ‘bow’ adlibs. One thing I believe he could’ve done better though is trying to reach a wider audience. ‘Intruder’ is very very gang and street orientated, the same fans who loved Takeoff on ‘What’s the price’ are unlikely to like him on this, but I believe this is the start of a very long and beneficial solo career for Takeoff.

Video: Mike WiLL Made-It - Perfect Pint ft. Kendrick Lamar, Gucci Mane, Rae Sremmurd

Video: Mike WiLL Made-It - Perfect Pint ft. Kendrick Lamar, Gucci Mane, Rae Sremmurd

Mike Will has always been on a mission to be one of the best producers Hip Hop has seen! After watching the super trippy visuals I have to say I am very impressed by director Nabil, a name I hope to see more of in the future. The song takes place in what looks like the road to Las Vegas and gets kick started with the signature duo killing the game right now, Yeah that be Rae Sremmurd. Gucci takes second verse while travelling the dystopian universe and just damn right blowing things up, then we are blessed with a larger than life Kendrick who does what he does best by lyrically destroying everything in sight. Pay attention people i think there might be a little surprise for you down below.

Video: Migos - To Hotty

Migos go reminding us how easily they can make a wavy banger using some signature reference flows. On this one they pay homage to wrestler Scotty 2 Hotty.

Offset carries the track with a sick, catchy chorus which allows us to grasp the bounce of the track as the other two members bring their sound to bless the dark signature vocals on the instrumental.

Video: CyHi The Prynce - Nu Africa

With politics becoming the new trending topic since the recent Presidential election, a number of rappers have spoken publicly stating their strong opinions through music. It's refreshing to hear to say the least, especially with such varied opinions.

CyHi The Prynce is the next artist to make sure his voice is heard. The latest cut off his forthcoming album 'No Dope' on Sunday just screams "reality check" as CyHi highlights the issues within society, not only from an American standpoint but also the standpoint of the Motherland, Africa.

From a personal perspective, it's great to hear CyHi The Prynce back on the Good Music band wagon, and if this S1 produced track is anything to go by, we could be in store for another notch on already impressive Discography Belt.

50 Cent drops out of Forbes hip hop rich list while Diddy peaks with $60m earnings

50 Cent drops out of Forbes hip hop rich list while Diddy peaks with $60m earnings

After a drama filled year for both the Bad Boy Records CEO and the G Unit boss, it looks like Sean Combs will have the last laugh, as not only has he reached #1 on the annual hip hop rich list, but Curtis Jackson didn't even make the top 20, which shouldn't come as a surprise following his bankruptcy announcements.

Considering Diddy's wide ranging brand portfolio it's clear to see how he raked in such a fortune, with brands like Ciroc Vodka, REVOLT TV network, alkaline water brand Aquahydrate and can't forget the clothing brand Sean John!

50's Effen Vodka and SMS Audio don't seem to have generated much ROI for Fiddy though let's see what things look like in a year's time. Much respect due to independent hip hop icon Tech N9ne, who came in at number 17. Further proof that being a dope rapper with a solid fan base and a great live show, combined with consistent output really can make you million of dollars without having to compromise your own brand!

Here's the full list and you can find out even more via Forbes.com.

1. Diddy: $60 million2. Jay Z: $56 million3. Drake: $39.5 million4. Dr. Dre: $33 million5. Pharrell: $32 million6. Eminem: $31 million7. Kanye West: $22 million8. Wiz Khalifa: $21.5 million9.
